Batac City—Mayor Albert D. Chua said this city needs its own sports complex to host sports events and other activities.
In a move towards this, he requested the Sangguniang Panlungsod for an authorization to negotiate the purchase a lot to construct the complex.
The mayor said, currently, they are eyeing a location at Brgy. Naguirangan here.
Immediately responding, the Batac council, in a regular session held in Baguio City on February 3, 2018, tackled the mayor’s request. The council, however deferred the resolution on its second reading so they can invite the city assessor to learn more about the request. The council plans to ask the assessor about the lot’s owner as well as other information regarding it.
This stemmed from their discovery that there are other lots that are also in the planned site for the sports complex but were not in the list of lots presented.
Aside from the vicinity map, there were 17 others on the list of declared lot owners on said proposed project.
According to the mayor, they plan to construct an Olympic-size swimming pool, a track and field oval, a basketball court and athletes’ quarters.
He added that the project aims to give opportunity to the city’s athletes to train with better facilities.
Initially, the project proposal covers 5 hectares.
The mayor related that after the council gives him authorization, he will begin talking with lot owners. He added they will base lot prices on the assessment of the city assessor’s office.
After the lot acquisition, he said they will then formulate a development plan proposal for the its budget. The budget, he said would be a multi-year program, or a phase by phase project.
