LAOAG CITY—In pursuit of providing the most number of Laoagueños with standard-based and sustainable water supply and services, the partnership between the Ilocos Norte Water District (INWD) and PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp. (PrimeWater) took another huge step as it celebrated on January 30, 2018 the groundbreaking of its new source development project at Brgy. 29.
The partnership will soon construct a new deep well (PS11) with a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters per, which will benefit 6,000 concessionaires of the Laoag City proper through increased water pressure and water availability, especially in preparation for the upcoming summer season.
“Water is very essential to everyday life, from the needs of a household up to the operations of different businesses,” Laoag mayor Chevylle V. Fariñas said during the event.
She added that she is “very supportive” and “confident” that the partnership can provide for the water needs of the people of Laoag and to that of the Province of Ilocos Norte.
Brgy. 29 chairperson Marcelina Oliva Pascual was also present during the said event.

Additionally, general managers from other water districts also visited and witnessed such ceremony: Marline Bonilla of the San Nicolas Water District, Corazon Guira of the Dingras Water District, Mary Ann Ripotola of the Pagudpud Water District, and Florence Gelacio of the Sarrat Water District. Members of the local media was also present during the event.
By the same token, officials and officers of the INWD and PrimeWater partook in such significant event: INWD Board of Directors chairperson Zenaida Mariano, together with board directors Ameurfina Respicio and Rodrigo Pagtulingan; INWD general manager John Teodoro INWD; PrimeWater Wastewater and Sanitation department head Lala Fabella; and PrimeWater Ilocos Norte branch manager Engr. Jan Joseph Sta. Barbara.
This Groundbreaking Event was the second in a row for the partnership.
On January 16, 2018, the joint venture kicked-off its 2,200-meter pipelaying project at Brgy. Buyon in Bacarra. This project will benefit 5,000 concessionaires of Laoag and Bacarra.
Improving the quality of life of Ilocanos through the provision of quality and sustainable water supply and services is the joint goal of the INWD and PrimeWater, and they remain resolute that they will achieve such vision through continuous hard work and of course, through everyone’s cooperative efforts.
