The provincial office of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Ilocos Norte has again successfully conducted a series of training for its farmer-beneficiaries through its Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCCESS).
In cooperation with Costales Nature Farms, DAR has trained around 100 farmers from the different cities and municipalities in Ilocos Norte on Agri-Extension Services (AES) and Business Development Services (BDS).
Under AES, participative workshops on improved rice production technologies were held coupled with the establishment of technology demonstration farms in Piddig, Burgos and Currimao in order to monitor the development of the participants.
On the other hand, farmers were instructed on policy formulation, marketing and business management under the BDS.
There were 29 farmers who completed the 10-month course on AES, while 70 farmers successfully graduated from the BDS training.
OIC PARPO II Vic M. Ines congratulated DAR-Ilocos Norte’s Program Beneficiaries Development Division (PBDD), headed by Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer Teresita T. Acang, for the outstanding implementation of said training.
“This is a victory in the community,” said Mr. Ines.
