Laoag City—Following the alleged abortion done at a local clinic in this city recently, Laoag mayor Chevylle V. Fariñas strongly condemned the act.
“Saan a dapat a mapatpatunuy-nuyan iti kastoy a pasamak especially ket inosente a biag daytoy a saan man lang a naikkan iti gundaway met a ma-enjoyna kuma no kasanu iti ag biag,” Ms. Fariñas said.
Mary Jean Lagmay, resident nurse at Vigare Clinic was arrested on November 16, 2016 following an entrapment operation.
Police operatives caught Ms. Lagmay in the process of employing intentional abortion procedures. She was also caught dispensing abortive drugs to the female police asset at the clinic.
Vigare Clinic is owned by Dr. Teresita Vigare.
Ms. Fariñas expressed the belief that with the arrest if the suspected abortionist, the practice would cease in the city.
She also pointed out that the clinic involved has knowledge about the act.
She vowed to look deeper into the matter. She added that the clinic should immediately be closed.
The police shuttered the clinic since.
