LAOAG CITY—Following the mass oath-taking of the different government-led organizations here, Ilocos Norte Governor Ma. Imelda Josefa “Imee” R. Marcos challenged its new set of officers to come up with significant projects in their respective towns and cities as the province gears up for its bi-centennial anniversary on February 2, 2018.

These projects that are worthy of significance could range from improvement of irrigation system, community livelihood, infrastructure and school development among others which were once a priority program of then former President Ferdinand E. Marcos.

Held at the Ilocos Norte Capitol Session Hall, the governor led the oath-taking of the newly-elected officers of the local Philippine Councilors League, National Movement for Young Legislators, Ilocos Norte ABC Federation, League of Municipalities of the Philippines, and the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines-Ilocos Norte Chapter.

“This term will be a significant turning point and historical benchmark for our province. How far have we gone in 200 years? Sana tulungan ninyo kami na makapaglagay ng makabuluhang project sa lahat ng municipio lalong lalo na sa mga maliliit na municipio tulad ng Adams, Dumalneg at Carasi,” she said citing these bicentennial projects may not only include preservation of heritage churches and old houses but may also include biodiversity, environment, renewable energy and other new and unique projects that benefits the entire citizenry.

The 2018 bicentennial celebration kicked-off on the centennial birthday celebration of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos on Sept. 17, 2017.

“We are counting on you to make it a memorable and important one. SaSeptember 11, 2017 ay 100 anibersaryo ng tatay ko. Sana may presence ng konti sa bawat municipio. Hindi naman kailangan na rebulto a kaya ay portrait niya. Mas kailangan ang mga projects na importante rin sa tatang ko,” said Ms. Marcos.

As early as 2012, the locos Norte government has already been preparing for a grand celebration for the province’s 200th founding anniversary.
