PNP recognizes Marcos mayor

Marcos, Ilocos Norte—The Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional headquarters recognized Marcos Mayor Antonio V. Mariano with a plaque of recognition as one of the stakeholders for his enormous contributions in the PNP’s different programs and projects.

Region I National Police Commission (NPC) Legal Affairs Unit chief Atty. Mary Hazel Bela-o and PNP regional director P/Brigadier General Emmanual B. Peralta handed the award during the kick-off ceremony of the 26^thPolice Community Relations Month celebration with the theme, “Pulisya at Pamayanan, BARANGAYanihan sa Hamon ng Pandemya at Laban sa Krimen” held at Police Regional Office I, San Fernando, La Union on July 5, 2021.

Mariano thanked the PNP for the award; he said he was surprised by it and that he was not expecting anything in return for his personal help to the different PNP stations including the PMFC, Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office (INPPO) and as far as PNP regional office.

Recently, the PNP-Marcos, and the Philippine Army in cooperation with Mariano led the blessing and launching of a cooperative for the Indigenous People’s Association (IPA) at Brgy. Cacafean in this municipality.

Mariano said the cooperative, which put up a grocery and souvenir items store were donated in partnership with the PNP, Phil. Army and himself.

“Daytoy iti mangipaneknek nga ti agdama nga adminsitrasyon ket saan mi nga ilang-langi iti Brgy. Cacafean no sadinno a ditoy iti nangipanna mi iti daytoy a kooperatiba,” Mariano stressed.

PNP-Marcos OIC P/Lt. Rudy James Jacalne also thanked the mayor “for always supporting the PNP’s projects, programs and activities”.

As this developed, Jacalne again thanked the mayor for the donations including grocery items and souvenirs for the cooperative as he expressed hopes the IPA will manage the cooperative well.

IPA president Merlita Barid likewise expressed her thanks to the PNP, Philippine Army and Mariano for giving them a livelihood opportunity considering that their barangay among the most far-flung barangays in this town.

Barid promised to study well and learn the operation of the said cooperative.

The Ilocos Timeslearned that the IPA cooperative at Brgy. Cacafean has at least 34 members.
