Dingras, Ilocos Norte—Bureau of Fire Protection officials in this town, led by SFO3 Marlou D. Colobong, gave a more meaningful Christmas to the orphans of Shekinah Home in this town.
The Dingras firefighters exchanged their firefighting equipment for a fund-raising project to give the Shekinah Home orphans a brighter Yuletide season.
Aside from treating them to sumptuous meals, BFP-Dingras personnel also gave them Christmas gifts with the BFP mascot “Berong Bumbero” leading the gift-giving ceremony at the orphanage’s compound in Brgy. Cali, this town.
During the event, Mr. Colobong said, “Christmas should be for the children and as such, we at BFP-Dingras, are doing what we can to give these orphans a brighter Christmas”.
Firefighters distributed flyers to residences and local officials through the “Ugnayan sa Barangay” project.
They also posted BFP advocacy tarpaulins and banners to remind the public of the perils of improper use of firecrackers and pyrotechnics this season.
On top of this, the local BFP officers here also rolled out their firetrucks to personally remind Dingras residents on fire safety reminders.
The BFP here also intensified fire safety inspections on business that sell firecrackers and pyrotechnic to both check on their products’ safety and how to display and store those items.
Mr. Colobong also deployed BFP personnel in strategic areas in this town to provide emergency and medical assistance if the need arises. (MTE)
