LAOAG CITY—Ilokanos here rejoiced as they took pride of the lone Laoag City trap shooter Eric Ang for the winning gold medal for the trap shooting team event in the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

“We, your fellow Laoagueños are so proud of you!,” said a congratulatory message to Mr. Ang which was posted in the official social network page of the Laoag City government just after the Filipino trap shooters received their gold medals in the men’s team trap shooting event held at the Ilanin Forest Shooting Range in Subic Bay Freeport.

In 1996, Mr. Ang shifted to trap shooting as he dreamt of making it to the Olympics one day.

Twelve years later, Mr. Ang’s dream turned real as he joined the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He finished 24th out of 94 of the world’s best trap shooters.
