Laoag City—As fulfillment of Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Joseph M. Manotoc’s campaign promise “to improve, to equip, and to better staff” district hospitals and health units in the province, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) through the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) reopens the application for the first batch of “Saguip Nars” Program starting on December 2, until December 13, 2019.

“Saguip Nars” was introduced early in 2014 with the objective of providing work experience to new Ilokano registered nurses who lack professional clinical experience. However, the program was put on hiatus in 2018 due to budgetary constraints.

“To address the scarcity of nurses and healthcare providers as well as to encourage our nurses to work for our province, Governor Marcos Manotoc sees the need to bring back the ‘Saguip Nars’ since one of his top priority programs is the improvement of our health sector,” information officer II Rhona Ysabel Daoang explained.

For the first batch, PESO has opened 50 slots.

Interested applicants are required to pass their application letter addressed to the governor; resume; photocopy of transcript of records, board rating, Professional Regulation Commission card; school diploma; and one copy of 2x2 ID picture at the PESO. A qualifying examination and interview will follow.

The first batch of “Saguip Nars” is expected to render six months of service from January 16 to July 17, 2020. They will be deployed at the Governor Roque B. Ablan, Sr. Memorial Hospital, various district hospitals, Ilocos Norte Sports Development Office, and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Resiliency Office.

Application process for the second batch will start on May 4, 2020 with the same number of beneficiaries. (Blessing Angel V. Agliam)
