Laoag City—The two-day free dialysis treatment activity of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, the Department of Health, Office of Senator Imee R. Marcos, and the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC) has served nearly one hundred patients.

The dialysis treatment, which started on September 9, 2019 is one of the highlights of 102nd birth anniversary celebration of President Ferdinand E. Marcos, who was also a dialysis and a kidney transplant patient.

Beneficiaries thank Marcos clan for medical support
Beatrice Caluya, 60 years old, who has a chronic kidney disease (CKD), took the opportunity to avail the service upon learning the free dialysis treatment at MMMH&MC in Batac City.

Because of her disease, Mrs. Caluya carries a burden not only on her health condition but also on her financial capabilities.

Galak na galak ako noong nalaman kong may libreng dialysis. Hindi kasi sapat ang akingPhilHealth kaya kung kulang na ang aming pera, wala na akong pang-dialysis,” she shared.

Since 2013, she has been undergoing treatment, spending almost PHP8,000 a week for a three-time session. Thus, Mrs. Caluya is thankful for this initiative of the Marcos family.

“Governor [Matthew Joseph M. Manotoc], malaki ang pasasalamat namin sa handog ng inyong pamilya na free dialysis. Nawa’y magpatuloy pa ang pagtulong niyo sa amin,” she expressed.

A Laoag City resident, Ricardo Palting, 51 years old, also started his renal treatment three years ago. He was diagnosed with stage 4 CKD.

Nawa’y humaba pa ang inyong buhay at patuloy na mabuti ang inyong kalusugan,” he tearfully expressed as he was waiting for his turn in the hemodialysis ward.

Boosting its campaign for improved healthcare services, the Provincial Government, headed by Mr. Manotoc, continues to provide free medical services and treatment, especially to the less privileged.

“We commit to further develop our province by investing in the health of our people. Our people will always be our greatest asset and strength. Salun-at a sigurado, umili produktibo,” Mr. Manotoc remarked during his inaugural address. (Blessing Angel V. Agliam)
