The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently handed over peanut processing centers to two agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBOs) in Ilocos Norte.
The recipients are the Alviar Multipurpose Cooperative in Vintar and the Dupitac ARB’s Multipurpose Cooperative in Piddig.
The said activity was realized through DAR’s Village Level Processing Center Enhancement Project (VLPCEP).
Atty. Judita Montemayor-Tungol, regional director of DAR Region 1, said the VLFED aims to transform the livelihood efforts of the ARBOs into competitive, resilient and sustainable enterprise.
“Our goal is to help develop competitive products of agrarian reform beneficiaries and enhance enterprises and livelihood activities at the community level,” the regional director said.
The processing centers will be used in the pre-production, production, post-production and marketing phases of the products of ARBOs.
After the turn-over ceremony, the representatives of DAR, the ARBOs and the local government units concerned signed a memorandum of agreement on the operations of the processing centers.
